Celebrating 20 Years of Independent Film

The Alexandria Film Festival marks its 20th year of celebrating independent film with a record-setting 80 screenings and more than 50 in-person, filmmaker Q&As. Being able to discuss film with those who had a hand in creating it is what sets our film festival apart from just another night at the movies.

November 8

The festival kicks off with a special screening on Sunday, November 8. Join us for “Catching Pinecones,” the story of Jan and Herb Conn, pioneering rock climbers who, beginning in the 1940’s, made more first ascents and new climbs than anyone. It’s a story that perfectly captures the independent spirit our festival has long heralded.

November 13-15

Programming resumes Friday, November 13 and continues through Sunday, November 15 at five venues across the city including Beatley Library in the West End, the Alexandria History Museum at The Lyceum in Old Town, Patagonia Old Town, Virginia Tech in Potomac Yard and, new this year, The Riviera Alexandria in Potomac Yard.
